We thought for our final installment of our tattoo series, we would provide some questions and answers to get you inspired for when you get inked.
What is your motivation to get a tattoo?
Something is driving you to desire a tattoo. Are you experiencing a major milestone in your life? Are you trying to commemorate a person or an event? Bad body art comes from making a sudden decision to go and have a tattoo done. If you are considering a tattoo because you and a bunch of your friends think it is a great idea – PLEASE AVOID doing any of the following:
- Getting a tattoo that resembles genitalia.
- Anything with the current crush’s/partner’s name on. Chances are likely the tattoo will outlast your relationship. (Children or honoring a loved one are only name tattoos we recommend.)
- Anything written in a foreign language – unless you have researched and fully understand the meaning.
- Anything to do with high school or college.
- Anything that mars your wedding dress, upstages your honeymoon, or gives your children an odd impression of you.
- Anything currently trending.
If the motivation for your design is something that represents or has given you hope in a rough time in your life, perhaps helped you find out who you are, or something along those lines, then that might be the right choice
What Kind of Tattoo do you Want?
Most people have an idea or concept for their design but have not figured out how they actually want it to look. The internet is a great tool for this type of research. Google words that describe your design and see what comes up. Google Images or Pinterest make for great sites to see your concept from other’s perspective. If you find something you like, but want your own take on it, print it out and save it for a consultation with a tattoo artist. Tattoo artists are great at looking through your pulled images and designing a tattoo that is absolutely unique to you!
You’ll want your new ink to reflect your personality. If you’re really into art, check out an exhibit or museum. If nature’s your deal, take a hike or go camping. If you are a sports enthusiast – take in a game and look at the details. You never know – the perfect tattoo idea might just jump right out at you when you least expect it.
Ultimately, look through portfolios of various tattoo shops to see what type fo work they do. Our team has done some really amazing work over the years. Stop in and check out some of their work up front and personal! Not only can our team design an amazing, personalized tattoo, – but they are extremely good at working with clients who come in with a concept and then help them run with the idea, designing something 100% unique!

You’ve got the design – now where do you want to place your tattoo?
Sometimes the location of a tattoo can lead to ideas. If you are looking for a vertically placed tattoo on your ankle or heel going up the leg – then be sure to compliment the movement of the body part when considering a tattoo. Just be sure, if you have job restrictions that might require you to cover up that tat – keep that in mind when getting inked.
So – final question . . .
